Every day we are linked with a different player - some seem totally unrealistic (Mauro Icardi) and some totally under whelming (Ashley Barnes) this led me to the question: In terms of player recruitment what are we looking for this summer, what is the aim for next season?
For me a realistic expectation is a Premier league finish of 10th to 13th. With this in mind we need to manage our expectations in term of recruitment.
Twitter is a wonderful thing for a football fan, it provides a platform for fans to publically state their opinion on their club - however there is an awful lot of rubbish posted on there!
In reaction to potential signings this week I've seen the following responses:
"We can do better than that"
"Why we after him"
"He's Shite"
"What we after Championship level players"
"Haway Rafa man"
When looking at signing's we need only answer the one question: Do these players improve us? If so sign them up. They might not be our ideal signings, but if they take the club forward then why not.
A good example of this is Derby's Tom Ince - now he is no David Ginola, but he is better than Gouffran & Atsu so why not sign him?
Doesn't it feel good to have complete trust in the manager - whoever Rafa want's it good for me.
Relax and enjoy your summer
